July 4th Fireworks in the rain

I realize I have not posted on this site for quite awhile, I post most of my photos to http://photoblog.com/atlsat But I want to keep this blog up so I am doing some catch-up.

I visited my father on July 4th weekend, I'm usually working July 4th, doing a parade or NASCAR or something but I had this day off. Homemade fireworks in the rain.

Braves and the coke bottle.

The Atlanta Braves were making up a rain out game with the Chicago Cubs but this entry is not about the Braves or the Cubs, it about the coke bottle in left field. A couple of days before this game (6.22) it was announced the coke bottle would be dismantled and replaced with something else after the Phillies series, July 2. I had to get some photos before the bottle came down. It had fireworks shot out of the bottle when a Brave hit a homer and had stood in LF for 12 seasons..enjoy..

Shuttle Endeavour Launch and then some.

One could not have asked for a more perfect weather forecast for a launch. Driving 8 hours from Atlanta to Titusville and the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) to view one of the last shuttle launches. Everything was a GO for launch except for one little leak, a hydrogen leak developed as the rockets were being fueled. Thus scrubbing the launch. Hey I'm always ready for a sunrise, especially in Florida.

Welcome to Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves. After attending two rainouts, finally attended a game and made up for it in a big way, 15 innings!..enjoy..

Rainy day at the ballpark

After many many days in a row working, Finally a day off. So when the Braves are in town it's a good day to see some baseball. Hoping the rain would hold off, it didn't. We need the rain and I'm thankful for that. Here's a few photos.

After a 97 minute rain delay, they finally called the game at 3:07ET.

Once outside, the clouds were very low, almost touching the top of the Georgia State Capitol.

Unit2 Kickboxing Workshop

The Atlanta Photography Group held a portrait and action photo workshop 4.4.09 This was a perfect opportunity to work with equipment most of us do not have or have available to us on a regular basis. We also worked on photo technique. This also happened to be a kick boxing tournament..enjoy..

I had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer photograph the run for Ronald McDonald House on the campus of Georgia Tech sponsored by Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Everyone had a blast! This event took place on April 4, 2009.

4am project (April 4, 2009) from downtown Atlanta, Philips Arena, one would think that downtown Atlanta would be hustling and bustling with traffic and party goers, even at 4am but NO. I had to wait for this car to drive by just to get a light trail. What a way to start the day.

The weekend of January 31 was a wonderful weekend in Atlanta, so wonderful, a friend of mine, with his dogs, decided to take a hike up Kennesaw Mountain, elev 1808ft. An easy hike, clearly marked trails and a spectacular view at the top...enjoy.

2008 was a fantastic photographic year for me. I was completely rejuvenated, re-energized and found a new passion for photography. This was the last sunset for a couple of reasons. The last sunset of DST, we turn our clocks back tonight and for me the last sunset of summer. When we move to standard time it gets dark earlier. September 22, 2008, the autumnal equinox occurred today and as luck would have it, the sun sat exactly at 270-degrees! Also as luck would have it, it was an unusually dry day here in Atlanta which did not make for a colorful sunset as the atmosphere was clear. A beautiful sunset none the less.. Enjoy..

Bitter/Sweet

It was my intention to have this blog as a photo blog, taking time to show the images that are colorful and have meaning, whether simple or complex meanings. Today however is one of those days where it would be challenging for a picture to speak a thousand words.

I’m not a big fan of Seinfeld but I do remember one episode where Jerry talks about the yen and yang, the black and white cookie. Where some members of the cast have good luck and others always have bad luck. Jerry has a little of both, good and bad. The bitter and the sweet.

Several things have happened today, kind of a bright sunny day with dark ominous clouds. Two very good associates where I work were let go. They were a total pleasure to work with, in every way. They have great attitudes, organized, good writers and producers and were always a joy to be around. Today is their last day. For that I am very sad, two very good people who deserved a better set of cards. I will miss them greatly..

Also with the bitter, I have had the great pleasure of crossing paths a very influential person. In life you may meet a hand-full of people that influence you in some way or another; career, life, personal, spiritual. This person is also a work associate and was here on temporary assignment, this assignment ends today. It is truly bitter sweet, for I am sad, very sad they they are leaving but should feel joyful and sweet for all their insight, wisdom, humor and friendship but I’m sad not bitter they are going..

I should be happy for their friendship and I AM but it’s still a dark Friday for me.. tm
